Threshold determination

For determining a threshold via behavioural or electrophysiological experments two methods have been used in animal trials:

  • Method of constant stimuli
  • Method of limits or staircase procedure

In humans the method of constant adjustment can also be used (adjusting the signal intensity until it cannot be heard anymore), but is highly difficult to implement in animal trials.
