Method of Constants

The method of constants relies on estimating a psychometric curve or function by playing back signals of varying sound pressure level mixed with catch trials (no signal is sent). The psychometric function is then calculated as the percentage of correctly detected sounds at each level. It is assumed that a detection threshold of 50 % indicates the chance level - the animal randomly chooses one choice or the other.
